Zeolite Clinoptilolite: What It Is and How It Helps Your Body Detox

Struggling with symptoms of poor detox like fatigue, skin rashes, and brain fog? Then let me introduce you to my friend zeolite.

When it comes to detox, zeolite is superstar status. Over the years it’s been used to purify water, add nutrients to soil, and even remove nuclear waste.

However, zeolite’s effectiveness at binding mycotoxins is what really made it grab my attention. And while there are many forms of zeolite, one reigns superior: zeolite clinoptilolite. This article explains what zeolite is, how it helps you detox, and why zeolite clinoptilolite is the best.

What Is Zeolite?

Zeolites are porous minerals with detoxifying, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Mostly made up of silica and aluminum, they’re formed when volcanic lava and water make contact.

There are around 80 different types of natural zeolites including (1):

  • Analcime

  • Chabazite

  • Clinoptilolite

  • Erionite

  • Heulandite

  • Mordenite

Yet, of all these, there’s one that stands out among the crowd: zeolite clinoptilolite. Known as the “Cadillac of zeolites”, this form provides optimal detox capacity for metals, mycotoxins, pesticides, and ammonia.

Let’s break down exactly how zeolite works its detox magic…

How Zeolite Supports Detox

Zeolite is often described as a “molecular sieve” due to its unique cagelike structure. It carries a negative charge, which helps it attract positively charged toxins such as:

  • Mycotoxins (2)

  • Heavy metals (3)

  • Environmental toxins (4)

  • Radioactive minerals (5)

When these positively charged toxins travel through channels in zeolite’s cage, they become trapped. This allows them to be safely and effectively removed from your body.

What’s more, research reveals zeolite may be a helpful tool for treating leaky gut. One study found that zeolite reduced zonulin and tightened the intestinal wall in just 12 weeks. (6)

Why Zeolite Clinoptilolite Is the Best

While all forms of zeolite will yield some detox benefits, certain types are safer and more effective than others. And research shows zeolite clinoptilolite (ZC) has the best detox scorecard around. (1) Here are a few of its impressive stats:

  • One animal study found that zeolite clinoptilolite reduced lead accumulation in the intestine by a whopping 77%. (7

  • In another animal study, zeolite clinoptilolite was added to animal feed. This increased aflatoxin excretion in milk by 56.2%. (8)

But additional research shows zeolite can bind to ochratoxins, zearalenone, ammonia, and even BPA. (9, 10, 11)

Best of all ZC removes harmful toxins without stripping the body of essential nutrients. So when I set out to create a binder for this community – I knew I had to include it.
